Sunday past was the first Hong Kong Cycling Association mountain bike race I've ridden at in some time, with the Sheung Shui course much improved over the last time I raced there (2009?!?). It's now a reasonably technical short off road loop, but
jees- 15 laps for Open Category took us almost 2hrs- a long time at
full XC intensity without someone to pass you up bottles. As it happened I just about limped in for a 4th place result, but not before a crash, an exploding
chainset (look closely at the picture and you won't see a big ring) and my
forks had stopped working. Time for some serious mechanical work on the Turner... Thanks to
Gary Lai for the photo.
